The Reptile Super Show—Part 2

We had a great time at the Reptile Super Show in Pamona, California on August 7th and 8th. Shows give us the chance to meet new people and share the passion of reptiles with them. They also provide the opportunity to hang out with other breeders—we love to see the projects that others are working on and were even able to make a trade or two. We picked up two really nice female tangs from Nate at Sin City Gecko. We met Nate last fall in Vegas and we knew he had great stuff, so we were hoping to see him there.

We’d never been to the Los Angeles area for a show, so we were pretty excited to say the least. We left early Friday morning, waking up at 4:00 a.m. to load the van and get on the road. We arrived in Pamona around 4:00 p.m. and immediately went to the L.A. Fairplex to set up our booth. Our goal was to set up and give ourselves time the next morning to “shop” around and see what others had out before the crowds got there. We had everything up just in time to eat some of the free grub, chat with fellow vendors, and then head to the hotel for the night.

On Saturday we arrived early enough to get all of the geckos out and ensure that they were looking their best.  We made a few laps around the other booths and saw some AMAZING stuff. It was a good thing we were able to go around before the show, because once it started we spent the next 7 hours with a constant barrage of people at our table. I’m not sure how many people came by. All I know is that we didn’t sit or eat until the show was over for the day. And the next day was about the same.

We had a blast talking to so many people. We placed some of our beautiful geckos with some great owners and we are excited that they were so happy to have them. As we packed up the van and headed back Sunday night, we felt like it was worth the trip. On the way home we had a long ten hour discussion about our plans for Gecko Daddy and the projects we are working on. The ride home also gave us time to plan for our next shows: Salt Lake City on October 2-3 and Las Vegas on October 16-17. We hope to see you there!
