Baby USA Captive Bred Clown Giraffe Tree Frog (Dendrosophus arndtii)
These are super small offspring avaiable right now. eating pinhead crickets.
While Clown Giraffe frogs are related to other clown tree frogs more common in the hobby, this variant in the dendrosophus complex is anything but common. Dendrosophus arndtii has 3 distinct variations and we have produced all 3 in just 2 spawns of visual giraffe clown frogs. We are now undertaking the challenge to understand more about the genetics in D. arndtii. This project will likely take several years to unfold, but we are excited to play a part in bringing to light this rare, beautiful and intricately patterned clown frog.
In 2025 we produced another group of giraffe clowns. This time, only the giraffe variant was produced. Weird. haha.
General Information:
Here are some general care instructions for keeping clown frogs:
1. Habitat:
- Provide a spacious vivarium with plenty of vertical space for climbing.
- Use substrate like coconut husk or sphagnum moss to maintain humidity levels.
- Include live plants for hiding spots and to help with humidity.
2. Temperature and Humidity:
- Maintain a temperature range of 75-85°F during the day and slightly cooler at night.
- Keep humidity levels between 60-80%. Regular misting will help achieve this.
3. Lighting:
- Provide a 12-hour light cycle using a full-spectrum UVB light to simulate natural daylight.
4. Feeding:
- Clown frogs are insectivores. Feed them a diet of appropriately sized crickets, roaches, and other feeder insects.
- Dust their food with calcium and vitamin supplements regularly.
5. Handling:
- Limit handling as much as possible to reduce stress on the frogs. When handling is necessary, do so with clean, damp hands to avoid harming their delicate skin.
6. Health:
- Regularly monitor your frog's appearance and behavior for signs of illness.
- If you notice any health concerns, consult with a veterinarian experienced in amphibian care.
Remember, providing a suitable environment and proper care is essential for the health and well-being of your clown giraffe frogs.
